eSports Potential - Prospective caster

Hello folks,

I'm Marshall (or Marshii on steam) - I've been casting online tournaments for 3 years now, even doing some live at PAX Prime in 2014. Since I first saw early show matches for StarCraft 2 I have enjoyed the idea of casting and, while I have been casting a game called Planetary Annihilation for the past 3 years - I feel as though it may be time to move on to new things. There aren't all that many RTS games that I have an interest in casting, I don't care much for MOBAs at the moment either. But I have been looking to maybe get into some FPS casting. While I'm trying to get better at CS-GO currently to maybe slowly start somewhere in the back there, I came across the Quake Champions trailer and footage and find myself quite interested.

I'm curious as to quite what the plans are for this game as a spectator sport and what the esports potential is in general. As an add on to that, I wondered where early testing/feedback comes into this game as it continues development and moves towards the closed beta that I see talked about here.

From my time with PA that was a kickstarted game, it is clear to me that the time to get into games with a sight on eSports as a caster is as early as possible. It is much better for a caster to learn the game as the game develops because they adapt their knowledge with the changes, building up an understanding of the game, why things are, why things are not, why things have changed etc, making for a more in-depth and engaging cast because of that contextual knowledge. Contrast this with someone who comes to the game a while after release and is basing their cast purely on facts and figures probably from spreadsheets somewhere as to what the 'meta' or preferred actions are etc if you get my meaning.

Should eSports be a big thing on the mind of the developers and publisher here it would be great to see what opportunities there are for a prospective caster.

Ialso look forward to perhaps integrating with the community going forward.

For a look at my casting so far, here's a link to my youtube channel should you be interested; Marshall - YouTube
